Commercial Fleet Glass Repairs

Is there anything more frustrating than peacefully driving down the highway and suddenly hearing the sickening “chunk” of an airborne stone smacking into your formerly perfect windshield? We’ve all been there. But what now? Unfortunately, the answer is not “forget it happened and keep driving.” The sooner you repair a chip in your windshield, the less likely you are to end up having to pay for costly repairs or, worse, a complete windshield replacement later on.

What To Do After Your Windshield Is Struck by a Flying Object

Luckily, as long as you don’t immediately see a massive crack form along the middle of your windshield or notice spiderwebbing that obstructs your vision, you should be safe to continue driving to your destination.

Note: If your vision is obstructed or you notice immediate shattering or cracking that grows worse as you drive, pull over as quickly as you safely can. It is not safe to drive with obstructed vision or with auto glass that has been structurally compromised.

Once you are in a safe location, inspect your windshield for any chips or cracks. If you find a chip in your windshield, the next step is to make an appointment to have it repaired as soon as possible.

When you contact Fast Glass Service, you can choose to bring your car into the shop, or you can make an appointment with our mobile chip repair service! We’ll come to your place of work, your home, or wherever your car is to repair it while you focus on other things! It’s a contact-free service so you can get back to work or make dinner for the family and next time you go outside, your car will be ready to go.

But the Chip Is So Small! Is Chip Repair Really Necessary?

No matter the size of the chip, having it repaired as quickly as possible is in your – and your car’s – best interest. Windshield chips, when left exposed to the elements, can become impacted with dirt, causing discoloration and making them more difficult, even impossible, to repair.

Windshield chips also weaken the integrity of your auto glass, making it much more likely to crack, split, or shatter in the future.  And take it from the pros when we tell you that fixing a little chip is much cheaper than fixing a large crack.

Your windshield is actually made up of two layers and if water penetrates through the outer layer, it can make your windshield foggy, cause discoloration, and generally impede your visibility.

Save time and money and contact Fast Glass Service about our chip repair services as soon as you notice a chip in your windshield.

Chip Repair or Windshield Replacement? A Fast Glass Service Guide

Unfortunately, sometimes a relatively small chip can mean big repairs – even a full windshield replacement. Usually, a chip that’s less than one inch in diameter can be fixed with simple chip repair services.

If you have multiple chips, no matter the size, chips that are connected by cracks, or a chip larger than one inch in diameter, you make have to undergo more extensive repairs – or consider a windshield replacement.

As we mentioned previously, your windshield is made up of two layers. The outer layer is actually made of plastic that protects the inner layer of true glass. A windshield chip that penetrates only the outer layer can easily be repaired. When any damage – including a chip – reaches the inner layer of glass, we will likely recommend that you replace the entire windshield to preserve the structural integrity of your car and the safety of yourself and your passengers.

Remember, if you would rather pay for chip repair than crack repair or a windshield replacement, seek chip repair services as soon as possible to mitigate the damage and your costs.

If you have any questions about chip repair or you need windshield chip repair services in  Central Arkansas, contact Fast Glass Service. We offer both in-shop and mobile chip repair to help meet all of your auto glass repair needs!
